Magnetic Man feat. Katy B – Perfect Stranger

Magnetic Man has returned off the back of the success of their debut single “I Need Air” to produce this new banger featuring the vocalist of the moment Katy B. Having already worked with Benga for the success of her debut single “Katy On A Mission” she now teams up with the rest of the Magnetic Man crew, Skream and Artwork to again perfectly compliment some badass drum & bass/dubstep. Seems Benga likes it so much he’s taken to remixing it himself too!

The Naked & Famous – Young Blood (Skeet Skeet’s MEGA Edit)

Just spotted this one over at P&P, a brand new remix of summer jam “Young Blood” by LA’s DJ Skeet Skeet. Nice remix that keeps inline with the original with an extra bit of kick. Also check Skeet’s soundcloud for more remixes of Sky Ferreira, Mike Posner etc and dont forget that The Naked & Famous are about to start their album release tour with Kids of 88 from the end of this month into mid Oct so hit up ticketmaster or undertheradar.co.nz for tix!

Sky Ferreira – One Remixes

I’ve had my eye on Sky Ferreira since she covered Miike Snow’s “Animal” awhile back – noted, i haven’t shared any of Sky’s work since we’ve been MIA from the blogosphere so here we go! She’s only 18 but being tipped as the next big thing in electro-pop, plus she’s already gained dissworthy status being blasted by Katy Perry on twitter. Her debut album will be released on January 11, 2011 and the debut single “One” due out officially on the 23rd of Aug, which has a video out already. Now the thing that really excites me – the remix package for “One” featuring remixes from Bar9 & Logistics, not that Sky is a stranger to big names – she worked with Bloodshy & Avant on the original and her next track “Obsession” with Ryan Tedder for which she just released a snippet on Amazon.

Should Know Better Than To Fuck With Me

Hey guys! As you can see we’ve been working on updating the site trying to make it abit easier for y’all to use by turning it into a rolling blog, so excuse us if we have any minor glitches as the update isn’t fully rolled out. Just thought I’d drop on some new(ish) tracks from Robyn, one that surfaced while I was away on hol and another featuring Snoop that came out the other day. Both are off the new album Body Talk 2.

DISCO, DISCO, DISCO.. DISCO!

up-dizzee_4

Hey guys! Been extremely slack because of tests and shit but finally here with some new joints to get your study on. Dizzee premiered this track on Radio 1 the other day, which will be on the re-release of Tongue N Cheek that he’s preparing. For now we only have the radio rip of “Dirtee Disco”, albeit an ok quality one – the official track will be out on the 24th! I can see a few Dizzee fans not liking this one, as the title suggests has Dizzee rapping over a disco beat and features vocalist Daniel Pearce, but im partial to some good disco!

The first official track from Robyn’s upcoming “Body Talk” has finally been revealed, with three tracks already up for offer on various digital sites. “Dancing On My Own” changes it up from the last few releases “Dancehall Queen”, “Fembot” and “None of Dem”, where she dominates the dancefloor, talks up her automatic booty applications and brags about how none of “dem” get her sex or move her intellect. Instead, the new release sees her alone on the dancefloor questioning “Does she love you better than I can?”, and has also been referred to as a “With Every Heartbeat 2″.

major_lazer1

Also just copped this refix of our favourite fictional cartoon artist, Maaajor Lazer. “When You Hear The Bassline” is one of those infectious tracks that hit you when you least expect, much like this remix by Rizzla.

Chaos In The CBD are at the forefront of production when it comes to electronic music in NZ, already having produced many well received originals and scoring gigs all over AKL. The boys had to say about their latest track “Bong Song”“We just made a funky type of thing using Sisqo’s ‘Thong Song. It’s just a bit of fun so don’t bother hating… If you cant handle the vocals then we’ve made a dub for you too!”

PLAY ME SOME KIND OF NEW SOUND

image_15Yo! Well another half of a semester is upon us so hope everyone enjoyed their little mini breaks, because its all downhill from here! First up we’ve got some new(ish) Wale, which he released via his Facebook the other day called “Break Up Song” – though not what you would expect to hear from the title, the track is an upbeat play on the classic break up scenario.

Wale – Break Up Song

robyn460Robyn has dropped a digital release on Amazon over the past week featuring 3 tracks – “Dancehall Queen”, “Fembot” and a new tune called “None of Dem”. The collaboration with Diplo, “Dancehall Queen” (previously “No Hassle”) is already a standout for 2010 in my collection with the tech-inspired “Fembot” also making a mark. “None of Dem” is no different, featuring Royksopp who Robyn also collaborated with on “The Girl & The Robot”, and you also get a chance to create your own video on Robyns website!

Robyn – None of Dem

breakbot

Also just randomly noticed quite a few remixes from Breakbot that have been sitting in my downloads folder, so just thought I’d post them up as they are all pretty decent. Special regards to the remix of Jamaica’s “I Think I Like U 2″, the French duo have been killing it with the first single from their debut album!

Jamaica – I Think I Like U 2 (Breakbot Remix)

Van She – Kelly (Breakbot Remix)

Breakbot – Iron Zombie (NEUS Remix)

l_3b8e3b75d1e347fda2ea69b576c51049Barbra Streisand – not usually two words that you would associate with Duck Sauce, was one of the most buzzworthy tracks at this years WMC and also has been tipped to be the jam of 2010. Unfortunately we havnt been able to pick up a HQ version of the original BUT this remix was just dropped by O-God, so will have to do for now!

Duck Sauce – Barbra Streisand (O-God Remix)

lisa-mitchellAand we shall finish up with Aussie girl Lisa Mitchell, whose latest track Oh Hark! has been chopped and screwed by the best of them, with remixes from Yes Giantess and Aeons transforming the hit into a feelgood jam.

Lisa Mitchell – Oh Hark! (Yes Giantess Remix)

Lisa Mitchell – Oh Hark! (Aeons Remix)

And as usual a few extras:

Marina & The Diamonds – I Am Not A Robot (Fools Gold Remix)

Kid Sister – Daydreaming (Helsinki 78-82 Remix)

Penguin Prison – Something I’m Not (Krispin Korg Remix)

FEMBOTS HAVE FEELINGS TOO

robynspacesuitWhile I did like the direction that Robyn was going with the Diplo produced “No Hassle” “Dancehall Queen” the newly surfaced track “Fembot” which will appear on her new album has a flavor we are much more used to from the Swedish popstar. Much more a continuation of “Robyn”, Fembot seems to be a play on Robyn becoming abit clucky – exploring her womanhood using technological metaphors, the “Digitally chic titanium mama” has hit the nail on the head with this one.

Robyn – Fembot

Robyn – Konichiwa Bitches (Ianizer & Lemethy Remix)

penguinworseWe featured the B-side of this track a little while ago, and NeonGold have just reminded us of the A-side “The Worse It Gets”. Penguin Prison brings the 80′s back with this electro-pop gem, mixing toned down vocals with strong stabbing synths. Better yet, the effect is trebled with RAC’s remix taking it up a whole nother level!

Also, Tek-One were feeling generous this week, posting a new track for free via their Twitter! Also check some other remixes i’ve picked up:

AINT GOT NOTHIN ON YA

drake-rogers

Drake leaked “Over” the other week, supposedly the first track off the album “Thank Me Later”, with the track already getting airtime on the radio. This week is another story, with another track surfacing with R&B super producer “The Dream” which Billboard says will be the first single off the anticipated album. “Shut It Down” has the opposite feel to “Over” with Drake showing his well known versatility, matching the vocals of The Dream and creating a sultry R&B slowjam.

Just came across some tracks from “The Dean’s List” who are a group out of Boston, performing hiphop with a pop influence. Consisting of Dj Mendoza, Sonny Shotz, Mik Beats, Jordan Brown, Kevin Murphy Walunas – The Deans List have tapped into a formula which makes me as excited as I was when I heard Chiddy Bang for the first time. The tracks “I’ll Be Okay” and “Ready To Go” are both radio friendly tunes, with catchy melodies mixed with electronic inspired beats. Thanks to Pigeons and Planes for these ones

3993740972_b3d7ac2327_o

Couldnt miss out this huge track from Rusko, given away for free on Mad Decent! Been getting some airplay for awhile now but i don’t say no to anything free.

Rusko – Da Cali Anthem

rsz_rihanna_rude_boy

Yep, more Rude Boy remixes. I’m particularly liking the Low Sunday Edit of this Ri Ri track, mixing up the vocals and with a mix of deep synths, keeping a part of the dancehall vibe she has going on.

Rihanna – Rude Boy (Cosmic Dawn Remix)

1e1626cb-f78a-4910-a48a-2b4dc4e3de6d_passion-pit

Also picked up a new remix of an old favourite, Passion Pits “Sleepyhead”. The remix from Cassette Club is a stripped down version of the original, with the vocals kept minimal that allows the track to transform from electro-pop to chillwave in an instant. One of the best Sleepyhead remixes I’ve heard!

Passion Pit – Sleepyhead (Cassette Club Remix)

b7cae8cf

Also with a chillwave vibe comes “Lovelife”, which is no surprise considering he used to rub shoulders with Neon Indian – the two were in a previous band together called “Ghosthustler”. The track “Jimmy’s” is full of dreamy dark synths and weary vocals perfect for a lazy sunday.

Lovelife – Jimmys

Neon Indian – Deadbeat Summer (Skeet Skeet’s Funky Edit)

And as usual a few other treats to pick at!

The xx – Crystalised (Eric Solomon Remix)

CASSETTE CATCHUP

mgmt-465x308

The follow up to Oracular Spectacular titled “Congratulations” will be out on April 13 and MGMT have returned with a free first sample of the sophomore album called “Flash Delirium”. The song is all over the place, and is a far cry from the psychedelic dream pop of their popular tracks from the debut but you can kind of see where they want to go with this track. The duo have come out to apologise to fans in an interview in Spinner:

“When we first wrote that song, we were laughing so hard,” MGMT’s Ben Goldwasser tells Spinner. “Andrew [VanWyngarden] just reminded me of that — that we thought it was the funniest thing we’d ever heard. And then we got used to it, it started to sound more normal. It’s not a single, but we thought it was a good way to entice people to listen to the whole record. I’m sure there are plenty of people who think it’s completely weird and not what they were expecting. I’m sorry.”

They’ve succeeded in creating a buzz surrounding Congratulations, with an instrumental called “Lady Dada’s Nightmare” combined with what we’ve heard it will sure make an interesting listen..

MGMT – Flash Delirium

chiddy-bang-001

Hot on the heels of their “Stylo” remix and with their debut single “Opposite of Adults” in the top 20 in the UK, Chiddy Bang prepare their release of Air Swell, the follow up to the mixtape “The Swelly Express”. Featured on Air Swell is a new remix of Ellie Goulding’s “Under The Sheets”, stripping down the instrumental and adding in heavy drums and a play on her single “Starry Eyed”.

Gorillaz – Style (Chiddy Bang Remix)

neon-indian-silent-league

Another free release came in the form of “Sleep Paralysis” which is new from Neon Indian, who was also given a hand by Chris Taylor from “Grizzly Bear” with the production of the track. Green Label Sound has just signed Neon Indian and they also offer other free mp3′s on their website, so download at their site or below!

Neon Indian – Sleep Paralysist

GaGa has been building hype for her “Telephone” video for weeks now, teasing fans with snaps from the shoot of the video – and if you’re going to delay a video so long it has to be aaamazing, which GaGa is nothing short of. The clip features a Tarantino style, also including the actual Pussy Wagon from Kill Bill which GaGa and Honey B cruise around on. As GaGa mentioned in her concert here in Auckland on Saturday night, the clip received 6,000,000 views in 24 hours! The Monster Ball was absolutely incredible, but did notice a few differences in the supposed setlist as she left out “Paper Gangster” and replaced with “Vanity” and also included “Brown Eyes” which was a welcome surprise.
