Just spotted this one over at P&P, a brand new remix of summer jam “Young Blood” by LA’s DJ Skeet Skeet. Nice remix that keeps inline with the original with an extra bit of kick. THE RUBY SUNS “FIGHT SOFTLY” + TORO Y MOI

The Ruby Suns prepare to release their third album “Fight Softly”, following 2008′s “Sea Lion”, which has been described as a “global psychedelic journey”, musically-busy kaleidoscopic pop, on the 15th of Feb (here in NZ) and the 2nd of March in the US. Ryan McPhun has given us an indication that Fight Softly will provide a different style from that of Sea Lion, bassy-er with more synths and organic sounds disguised as the opposite. We’ve had a sneak peek into the new release with the tracks “Cranberry” where the synths and bassy-er sounds can be heard from the get-go while there is a whirring sound which almost resembles a maori “bullroarer” or purerehua. Theres also “Cinco” which he describes as an angry song, although it doesn’t sound so – about someone trying to kick him out of his studio space. From what we’ve heard the album is set to be a smorgasbord of layered synths and complex sounds sure to please the ears.

The Ruby Suns will also be performing a DJ set in Auckland this weekend at Cassette 9 and also a few shows around the country (check myspace for details) before heading off to tour North America with Toro Y Moi.

Toro Y Moi (Half spanish Half French meaning “The Bull & Me” and pronounced “toro-ee-mwa”) is well-known for his lo-fi dreamy pop music and joins acts such as Neon Indian & Washed Out producing “chill-wave”. Though Toro Y Moi simply dubs himself a pop artist, theres no denying the presence of “chill-wave” in his obscured vocals and distorted syths. The album “Causers Of This” is out now!

P-MONEY – LOVE ALONE

A few hours ago, P-Money debuted his next single “Love Alone”, once again collaborating with Vince Harder. The track was picked by BBC Radio 1′s Zane Lowe as the Hottest Record in The World for Oct 1 so it’s already getting its worth of praise. The track follows the trend of its predecessor “Everything” in the sense that it has more of a dance focus than we have seen, but P-Money has shown the ability to cross the hiphop/dance genre much like that of David Guetta. “Love Alone”, with its heavy bass and sneaky synths, will no doubt be a summer jam – replacing the lyrics “We can riiiiide, off into the night” with “I really want that money, money money” on the lips of all NZ hipsters.

WASTE YOUR TIME WITH MY REVELATION

NZ’s own songstress, Ladyhawke, has been all over the place as of late, most recently touring on the Queen of All Media’s The Perez Hilton Presents Tour alongside Frankmusik and Semi Precious Weapons to name a few. She’s also coming back down under to tour Aucks, Welly & ChCh starting on the 31st of October at The Powerstation, and I like how she keeps it real like that. Her latest release off her self-titled album is Magic – can’t say its my favourite from the album but the remixes do a good job in upping the appeal.

Im abit ashamed to say that I napped throught the whole Miike Snow internet phenomenon that seemed to happen as of late. I’ve still got the ingeniusly catchy track Animal running replays in my head, so I was relectant that Miike Snow would be able to replace it. Their newest track “Black & Blue” is less catchy – but still as good in a different way to Animal, especially with the bevvy of remixes that it has attracted.

Filewile has been described as a well-disguised dance act – a statement i found to be true listening to the new single from their upcoming EP The Number One Kid, featuring remixes from Mercury, Robot Koch, Ramax & Algorhythm & Blues. Andreas Ryser & Daniel Jakob (Dustbowl & Dejot, respectively) started off as street musicians – DJing from their laptops and have been successful using their own devices. They are described on their EP as “Soul caressing Bass music, twisted hip hop and straight out partying”.Filewile has captivated my attention with their kaleidoscopic music style, unclassifiable brilliance.

Dizzee Rascals latest single Holiday is a sure hit! Check out the video for the new track above, its not high quality but its the best we could do. Tongue N Cheek is out on the 21st of September so be sure to cop that, if Dizzee’s first 3 singles off the album are anything to go by we can expect an escape from his grimey roots into more housey party tracks. PNC – Whats Up

Check out this new leak from PNC’s upcoming album Bazooka Kid set for release in early June. Produced by the one and only P-Money, the track is said to set the mood for the rest of the album -  and if "Whats Up" is anything to go by it should be in contention with PN-Whoa’s debut album Rookie Card.
