Hey! So I’ve just finished my summerschool exams and it was gruelling, but you know what they say – work is never over! Thats true for Diplo too, who’s just collab’d with Robyn on a new dancehall track called “No Hassle”, I like the vibe that the pair are going for on this track and can see it being a huge hit!
Also this week – Chiddy Bang released their new video for the track “Opposite of Adults” which samples MGMT’s “Kids” and is also a very cute video! Reminds me of the ElfYourself videos!

We’ve missed out on a bit over the last few days because, as some of you may have realised, our site was plagued by a big fat “Account Suspended” message the last few days. Anyway, A-Trak has collab’d with fellow Canadian Drake on a remix of Drakes ‘Money To Blow’, appropriately naming it ‘Loonies To Blow’, as a reference to the Canadian $1 coin commonly known as the loonie. It’s from the upcoming sequel to the mixtape ‘Dirty South Dance’, which should be killer!

Following her winning the BBC Sound of 2010, Ellie Goulding is still preparing to release her single ‘Starry Eyed’ in which features (so far) a massive remix package of the track. A while ago the Russ Chimes remix was unveiled, replacing the synths with house piano to turn the original upside down, and NeonGold just released a new remix of the track featuring fellow up&comers Penguin Prison and Theophilus London.

These two tracks from Breakbot’s upcoming EP ‘Baby Im Yours’ have been floating around the blogs the past week also, as the French producer prepares for the debut release on Ed Bangers on dreaded V-Day. The title track ‘Baby I’m Yours’ is a bouncy track reeking of a funk/disco appeal and featuring vocals from Irfane of ‘Outlines’.

Swedish band ‘Miike Snow’ made waves last year with the highly bloggable single ‘Animal’ and released their new single ‘Silvia’ the other day and features remixes from the likes of Sinden, Robotberget and so forth. They’re touring the England at the moment so I’d recommend going if you have the chance!

Maya put this video up for this track “Theres Space For Ol Dat I See” via her Twitter Page. Her follow up to Kala is rumoured to be out this summer and include work with Diplo, Switch & Blaqstarr (No surprises there). Theres not much more information about the track available other than that its apparently produced by Rusko but you can go to her twitter page to witness her FUCK YOU to the New York Times for featuring Sri Lanka in the top vacation spots for 2010.

Crookers also premiered a promo video for their latest single featuring 2009 breakthrough group Miike Snow. HELLO, 2010.
So we’re back from our holiday festivities – which mainly consisted of Rhythm & Vines and a stint up at 90 mile beach! So highlights from Rhythm & Vines were:- Major Lazer’s crazy live performance with Skerrit Bwoy’s infamous stage antics including a small crowd surf, an attempt at hanging himself from the lighting board with his mic and jumping ontop of the highest speakers to touch the roof of the stage! Also HAVE to note that Diplo was dropping the most insaaane tracks.
- Pon De Floor also would have had to be the song of the whole festival, being included in pretty much every DJ set that i saw.
- 2MANYDJ’S set on the 30th of December was another standout, easily one of the bests sets I’ve seen in awhile especially when coupled with the lighting setup and visuals!
- Vospertron again doing a live show just after NYE! (This vid isn’t from RnV itself, but everybody goes crazy over these guys!)

IT ALL COMES AT ONCE..
Vampire Weekend recently just uploaded this new gem “White Sky” to their myspace. The track has been performed by VW for a while now so those lucky enough to have seen them since they debuted it in January 2008 would already have drummed up massive expectations from the track.. I’m not one of those people unfortunately, so I didn’t have any preconceptions of what the song should sound like BUT I can say the final recorded version is pretty much perfection! Watch out for “Contra” coming soon!!
Death To The Throne is famous for knocking out a good remix and has hit us with some new material this week called “I Only Have Eyes For You”. It starts off with a voice sample of Brandi/Monica’s The Boy Is Mine before going into an array of electro, dub and fidget with escalating synths all wrapped together in a crazily perfect arrangement.

It was a week ago that BBC revealed the BBC Sound of 2010 longlist, which highlights the best new music for the coming year. There are 15 acts chosen, with the top 5 being featured on BBC – last years winner was Little Boots, among such other nominees such as La Roux, Lady GaGa, Temper Trap, Passion Pit, KiD CuDi etc. So its fair to say BBC has its ear on the pulse. Everything Everything is one of the chosen 15 for this years Sound of 2010 as well as Owl City, Ellie Goulding, Delphic, Marina & The Diamonds. They’re a British group well known for their take on pop music, defying genres and stretching the boundaries with complexities and tying it all up with dreamy vocals. KiD CuDi is the closest thing I get to listening to hip-hop at the moment. Also received this little treat in the mail from Vokab Kompany, an electro/hip hop outfit who has a new album coming out on the 31st of October called “The New Kong”. Ive had a chance to listen to a little of the album, and so far so good! Heres a little bio of the guys:

The official release date for Man On the Moon: The End of the Day from Kid Cudi is pending, dueSeptember, and thankfully the track that I have been most anticipating Pursuit of Happiness featuring psychedelic hippies MGMT and the electro duo Ratatat, and the 3rd single from the album has been leaked. After a few dull tracks over the last few days this master mashup of hiphop/alternative/electro has been the perfect remedy and everything I hoped that the track would be, so turn up your speakers and get down! Also check another leaked track from Cudders album called Soundtrack to My Life and dont forget to buy the album on the 15th!

Another track that Ive been looking forward to hearing is the collab of Jay-Z and Luke Steele, most famously the frontman for Empire of the Sun and also vocalist for The Sleepy Jackson. What We Talkin About is actually a pretty solid track IMO, but it helped that I wasnt overly impressed with the previous leaked tracks from The Blueprint 3.Dont forget to see EOTS live at RnV this year too!
