CHIDDY BANG – AIR SWELL MINI MIX

I’ve been waiting for some fresh tunes from Chiddy Bang, and today it came in the form of a new (mini) mixtape called “Air Swell”. Chiddy have been getting more and more recognition following “The Swelly Express” as well as some well produced remixes by Xaphoon Jones. “The Opposite of Adults” has been getting major airtime on MTV even down here in NZ so that pretty much tells you that they are on the up, and havn’t disappointed so far. The 7 track mixtape features their remixes of Ellie Goulding’s “Under The Sheets”, Gorillaz “Stylo” and also a few new mixes – including “Shooter” which samples La Roux’s “Bulletproof” and also Major Lazer party anthem “Pon De Floor”. Hey! So I’ve just finished my summerschool exams and it was gruelling, but you know what they say – work is never over! Thats true for Diplo too, who’s just collab’d with Robyn on a new dancehall track called “No Hassle”, I like the vibe that the pair are going for on this track and can see it being a huge hit!

We’ve also got another new single from Marina & The Diamonds who’s also got her debut album due out in a few days on Feb the 22nd. I have to say I’ve been abit obsessed with the girl BUT it as she was the runner up in the BBC Sound of 2010 awards it seems like I’m not the only one!

Our favourite “One Love” wonder has now been graced with an official video release, featuring Kid CuDi wandering the streets of Miami and in a packed out club. CuDi won’t be short of work any time soon, starring in the HBO series “How To Make It In America” which is airing in the US on the 14th of Feb, HBO streamed it for free on youtube here for those of you able to watch it (only available in the US) and I’m fairly sure it will show up somewhere soon..

CHIDDY BANG – ‘THE SWELLY EXPRESS’

We’ve been following these cool cats for a while now, since we first started blogging in April! They’ve just released their mixtape “The Swelly Express” featuring their already well known tracks “Fresh Like Us”, “Truth” and “The Opposite of Adults (KIDS)”.

“The Swelly Express” is the true story of two college kids (Chiddy Bang and Xaphoon Jones) from Philly who rocked some parties at Drexel and quickly gained the attention of “the industry’. The music and lyrics were inspired by many boring trips on the Chinatown bus (they have wifi now!) on the way to meet “big wigs” in NYC. After a bunch of nice dinners and some free drinks for these 2 underage kids, Chiddy Bang decided to make a mixtape. Enjoy!

LABOUR DAY LABOURING

Chiddy Bang is back with some much anticipated material from their upcoming mixtape “The Swelly Express” which is due out on the 29th of October. They’ve been at the top of our list for newcomers this year, with their strategic sampling of popular indie songs such as Passion Pits “Better Things” and more recently on their new track “All Things Go” sampling Sufjan Steven’s “Chicago”. The new mixtape “The Swelly Express” is been described by Chiddy Bang to be somewhat of an autobiography – a tale of two college kids breaking into the music realm. The two new tracks premiered on PMA are definately an indication that Chiddy Bang are destined for bigger and better things.

Ellie Goulding is again proving popular with the producers, this time with her newest single “Under The Sheets”. In particular – the dubstep producers have taken a major liking to the pop princess, with Jakwob remixing Starry Eyed a while back. Now we have “Under The Sheets” being remixed by Jeuce and She Is Danger with both taking a dubstep/electro twist on the original.

It is hard to believe that this unsigned, super cool four-piece hip / hop electronica group is made up of a bunch of college students from Philly, and fresh men at that! While most of YOU first year uni students are too busy hitting up all the student foam and toga parties to actually be doing anything productive, these guys are making some serious quality music! They are a little bit Schwayze, a little bit Kid Cudi, and if u dig the Cool-Kids-like swagger then you’ll love this group, they are gonna be massive! If you’re all about listening to some fresh, new, good quality music then you can’t go past these guys. All of their tracks are dope, my personal favorites would have to be ‘On our way’, ‘Fresh Like Us’, ‘Sooner and Later’ and their ‘Kids (MGMT)’ cover/remix. Ok so I have pretty much listed all of their as yet unreleased songs, but I’m sure you will fall in love with all of them too.
