The Naked & Famous – Young Blood (Skeet Skeet’s MEGA Edit)

Also check Skeet’s soundcloud for more remixes of Sky Ferreira, Mike Posner etc and dont forget that The Naked & Famous are about to start their album release tour with Kids of 88 from the end of this month into mid Oct so hit up ticketmaster or undertheradar.co.nz for tix!

Who is Zowie..
Who is Zowie? This new teaser from Zoey Fleury aka Bionic Pixie, now aka Zowie shows the new transformation from “toaster to terminator”. She’s still on the mission to modify the heartbeats of the world with her bionic self but by the looks of the clip has taken a more hard edge approach. The sound is still reminiscent of Bionic Pixie’s & she hasnt compromised her clever/playful lyrical style but you can definately see the transformation from Pixie to Zowie with the vocals packing more of a punch. Check out www.whoiszowie.com for more deets!
The Naked & Famous – Punching In A Dream
The Naked & Famous follow up their #1 hit “Young Blood” with the new track “Punching In A Dream”. Another psychedelic Passion Pit meets MGMT’eskĀ jam from their new album “Passive Me, Aggressive You” out on the 6th of September.
Rhythm & Vines 2010/11 Lineup
So the Rhythm & Lines lineup was released at 7pm and it’s – dare I say – AHHH MAY ZING. I dont know where you kiwi’s go if your not at RnV over the new years because they sure know how to deliver a show – even the foreigners know that judging by how many where there last year! Anyway back to the news, headliners are….
N.E.R.D!!! They were scheduled to come to NZ in Feb ’09 but cancelled the show due to recording commitments, they’ve got their fourth studio album “Nothing” coming out next month for which “Hot N Fun” was the first single. Not sure if these guys will be performing on the big night but they are “headliners” so there is hope for you all!In the meantime get yourself prepped up!
N.E.R.D – Hot N Fun (Crookers Remix)
N.E.R.D – Hot N Fun (Nero Remix)
JUSTICE – another huuuge act for RnV to score for new years. The French duo are also on the bill for Summadayze over in Oz early 2011 and have won various awards for their work – even winning a Grammy for their remix of MGMT’s “Electric Feel” as well as winning a few MTV awards. As I can recall, RnV also used “We Are Friends” in one of their older promo reels..
MGMT – Electric Feel (Justice Remix)
Justice – We Are Your Friends (Disco Villains Remix)
Also on the bill, another duo – this time the Canada-based “Chromeo” who have been working on their new album out next month called “Business Casual” which features their latest track “Don’t Turn The Lights On” and also “Night By Night” which they released awhile back. Still waiting on word of fellow Canadian and younger brother of David from Chromeo “A-Trak” and whether he will return also, he performed at RnV in 08/09 and is due to play Falls Festival this year.

GOTTA HAVE IT SUPERFAST
Marina & The Diamonds latest (and one of her oldest) singles has been popping up with remixes everywhere, with “I Am Not A Robot” being re-released on the 26th of April. It was originally released with Neon Gold Records in June 2009, but has since been climbing the charts due to some marketing brilliance. Either way, check out some new remixes from Clock Opera & The Knocks, and the Fool’s Gold remix that was posted last week!
Marina & The Diamonds – I Am Not A Robot (Clock Opera Remix)
Marina & The Diamonds – I Am Not A Robot (The Knocks Remix)
British dubstep producer and all-round genius Rusko is busy prepping his album O.M.G. out with Mad Decent on May the 4th. He’s surprised us with this one featuring the amazing vocalist Amber Coffman from the Dirty Projectors called “Hold On” which features a R&B style vocal over the normal heavy bass that Rusko is so well known for.
Rusko – Hold On (feat. Amber Coffman)
Rusko – Hold On (Sub Focus Remix)
Apparently Gorillaz tore Coachella a new hole when they closed the festival the other week, with appearances from De La Soul, Bobby Womack and Clash members Mick Jones and Paul Simonon. Their second single “Superfast Jellyfish” from the album “Plastic Beach” has been remixed by none other than Evil Nine and also relative noob Unicorn Kid, who has also been producing some decent 8-bit chiptune/electro.
Gorillaz – Superfast Jellyfish (Evil Nine Remix)
Gorillaz – Superfast Jellyfish (Unicorn Kid Remix)
And, lastly some MORE new Robyn called “Don’t Fucking Tell Me What To Do”, containing a list of all the things that are killing her. Robyn delivers the list, featuring her drinking, smoking and manager, over a monotonous yet punchy beat which seems to perfectly suit the aesthetic of the track ending with the title “Don’t Fucking Tell Me What To Do”. Also check the new Chew Fu extended mix of “Dancing On My Own”.
DISCO, DISCO, DISCO.. DISCO!
Hey guys! Been extremely slack because of tests and shit but finally here with some new joints to get your study on. Dizzee premiered this track on Radio 1 the other day, which will be on the re-release of Tongue N Cheek that he’s preparing. For now we only have the radio rip of “Dirtee Disco”, albeit an ok quality one – the official track will be out on the 24th! I can see a few Dizzee fans not liking this one, as the title suggests has Dizzee rapping over a disco beat and features vocalist Daniel Pearce, but im partial to some good disco!
The first official track from Robyn’s upcoming “Body Talk” has finally been revealed, with three tracks already up for offer on various digital sites. “Dancing On My Own” changes it up from the last few releases “Dancehall Queen”, “Fembot” and “None of Dem”, where she dominates the dancefloor, talks up her automatic booty applications and brags about how none of “dem” get her sex or move her intellect. Instead, the new release sees her alone on the dancefloor questioning “Does she love you better than I can?”, and has also been referred to as a “With Every Heartbeat 2″.
Also just copped this refix of our favourite fictional cartoon artist, Maaajor Lazer. “When You Hear The Bassline” is one of those infectious tracks that hit you when you least expect, much like this remix by Rizzla.
Major Lazer – When You Hear The Bassline (Rizzla’s Cunty Refix)
Major Lazer – Keep It Going Louder (DZ Remix)

Chaos In The CBD are at the forefront of production when it comes to electronic music in NZ, already having produced many well received originals and scoring gigs all over AKL. The boys had to say about their latest track “Bong Song” – “We just made a funky type of thing using Sisqo’s ‘Thong Song. It’s just a bit of fun so don’t bother hating… If you cant handle the vocals then we’ve made a dub for you too!”
Chaos In The CBD – Bong Song
Chaos In The CBD – Bong Song (Dub)
And as usual heres some other tracks to tickle your eardrums!
Passion Pit – Folds In Your Hands (Keljet Remix)
Marina & The Diamonds – I Am Not A Robot (Doorly Remix)
PLAY ME SOME KIND OF NEW SOUND
Yo! Well another half of a semester is upon us so hope everyone enjoyed their little mini breaks, because its all downhill from here! First up we’ve got some new(ish) Wale, which he released via his Facebook the other day called “Break Up Song” – though not what you would expect to hear from the title, the track is an upbeat play on the classic break up scenario.
Robyn has dropped a digital release on Amazon over the past week featuring 3 tracks – “Dancehall Queen”, “Fembot” and a new tune called “None of Dem”. The collaboration with Diplo, “Dancehall Queen” (previously “No Hassle”) is already a standout for 2010 in my collection with the tech-inspired “Fembot” also making a mark. “None of Dem” is no different, featuring Royksopp who Robyn also collaborated with on “The Girl & The Robot”, and you also get a chance to create your own video on Robyns website!
Also just randomly noticed quite a few remixes from Breakbot that have been sitting in my downloads folder, so just thought I’d post them up as they are all pretty decent. Special regards to the remix of Jamaica’s “I Think I Like U 2″, the French duo have been killing it with the first single from their debut album!
Jamaica – I Think I Like U 2 (Breakbot Remix)
Van She – Kelly (Breakbot Remix)
Breakbot – Iron Zombie (NEUS Remix)
Barbra Streisand – not usually two words that you would associate with Duck Sauce, was one of the most buzzworthy tracks at this years WMC and also has been tipped to be the jam of 2010. Unfortunately we havnt been able to pick up a HQ version of the original BUT this remix was just dropped by O-God, so will have to do for now!
Duck Sauce – Barbra Streisand (O-God Remix)
Aand we shall finish up with Aussie girl Lisa Mitchell, whose latest track Oh Hark! has been chopped and screwed by the best of them, with remixes from Yes Giantess and Aeons transforming the hit into a feelgood jam.
Lisa Mitchell – Oh Hark! (Yes Giantess Remix)
Lisa Mitchell – Oh Hark! (Aeons Remix)
And as usual a few extras:
Marina & The Diamonds – I Am Not A Robot (Fools Gold Remix)
