This time around we’ve got remixes by The Sound of Arrows (also remixed Alejandro & Penguin Prisons “Animal”) and Pink Ganter in preparation for the release of “Young Blood” on NeonGold next week.. Just spotted this one over at P&P, a brand new remix of summer jam “Young Blood” by LA’s DJ Skeet Skeet. Nice remix that keeps inline with the original with an extra bit of kick. Zowie – Broken Machine (RAC Remix)

Just got hit with a new jam from the artist formerly known as Bionic Pixie, now known by a variation of her ‘real’ name “Zowie”. It’s not surprising that Zowie is getting SOO much attention internationally because to be quite blunt – she’s the shit! If you caught her show at Rhythm & Vines last year her covers of Gwen Stefani’s “Crash” and Robyn’s “Cobrastyle” give away quite abit to her direction as an artist, as well the way she can give an emotional kick in the nuts with her lyrics a la “Quit Breathing” and “You Did the No No”. Aaanyway, the new track is a remix of Zowie’s “Broken Machine” which featured on Perez (good on u girl) and was remixed by RAC who also played around with fellow Kiwi’s Kids of 88′s “My House”. Who is Zowie..

Who is Zowie? This new teaser from Zoey Fleury aka Bionic Pixie, now aka Zowie shows the new transformation from “toaster to terminator”. She’s still on the mission to modify the heartbeats of the world with her bionic self but by the looks of the clip has taken a more hard edge approach. The sound is still reminiscent of Bionic Pixie’s & she hasnt compromised her clever/playful lyrical style but you can definately see the transformation from Pixie to Zowie with the vocals packing more of a punch. WEEKEND RECOVERY

So for all you kiwi readers would of known We Love Sounds going down on friday night.  My god it was an amazing night. Personal highlights were P Money and of course Laidback Luke, a genius on the decks he completly blew my mind. Steve Aoki did a good set, bit predictable but was good to hear some new tunes. All n all was worth the money and would definatly go again!

We mentioned a little bit about indie-pop outfit Butterfly Bones a while back when they released their EP “Pretty Feelings” which featured cheeky synth filled tracks “XOXO” and “Ur Hott”. They present us with “<3″ the first track from their upcoming album, which continues their summery feel with smiling synths and laidback vocals – giving me the feeling of the first day of summer!

British electropop artist Frankmusik has collaborated with Computer Club, an electro-house band from LA to produce his latest single “Losing Streak” to be featured on his upcoming album “Follow The Leader”. Not too sure about the release date on the new album but Frankmusik seems to be working his ass off with his last album released less than a year ago! Don’t sleep on this one the beat is a banger!!

Justin Faust has built himself up quite a reputation for producing incredibly danceworthy house tracks smooth enough to butter your toast with. Not surprisingly his father is a producer & composer, paving the way for him to start producing house in 1992! THE RUBY SUNS “FIGHT SOFTLY” + TORO Y MOI

The Ruby Suns prepare to release their third album “Fight Softly”, following 2008′s “Sea Lion”, which has been described as a “global psychedelic journey”, musically-busy kaleidoscopic pop, on the 15th of Feb (here in NZ) and the 2nd of March in the US. Ryan McPhun has given us an indication that Fight Softly will provide a different style from that of Sea Lion, bassy-er with more synths and organic sounds disguised as the opposite. We’ve had a sneak peek into the new release with the tracks “Cranberry” where the synths and bassy-er sounds can be heard from the get-go while there is a whirring sound which almost resembles a maori “bullroarer” or purerehua. Theres also “Cinco” which he describes as an angry song, although it doesn’t sound so – about someone trying to kick him out of his studio space. From what we’ve heard the album is set to be a smorgasbord of layered synths and complex sounds sure to please the ears.

The Ruby Suns will also be performing a DJ set in Auckland this weekend at Cassette 9 and also a few shows around the country (check myspace for details) before heading off to tour North America with Toro Y Moi.

Toro Y Moi (Half spanish Half French meaning “The Bull & Me” and pronounced “toro-ee-mwa”) is well-known for his lo-fi dreamy pop music and joins acts such as Neon Indian & Washed Out producing “chill-wave”. Though Toro Y Moi simply dubs himself a pop artist, theres no denying the presence of “chill-wave” in his obscured vocals and distorted syths. The album “Causers Of This” is out now!
